Sports injuries may be acute or chronic and can be caused by:

  • accidental trauma - such as high velocity impact or various types of falls.
  • not warming up properly before exercising; muscle fatigue; poor technique; repetitive overload
  • using inappropriate equipment
  • pushing yourself too hard and overtraining
  • biomechanical reasons.
